Business Analyst – Initial 6 Month contract

Overview

Our client, an International Commodity Company, based in London City area, is currently seeking an experienced Business Analyst to help drive improvements in automation and AI opportunities in business reporting, and insight generation regarding trading and cashflow performance for the entities prepared in London under the supervision of the Controller.
The position champions continuous improvement across systems, technology, and processes within Finance, aligned with enhanced business analysis and reporting to support our strategy.

 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Provide critical financial and analytical decision support regarding trading profit and loss and cash performance to the business ensuring alignment and visibility globally.
  • Leveraging automation and AI to drive process improvements, automate complex financial workflows, reporting and analytics by applying strong problem-solving methodologies and looking at AI and automation use-cases to automate and remove bottlenecks and frictions.
  • Experience and expertise in utilization of planning and ERP systems such as SAP driving further automation and adoption to increase productivity.
  • Support to controlling and commercial teams on current processes (e.g. Leases) and impact to the business.
  • Strong relationship building, communication and presentation skills together with process mapping and project management skills to support and deliver global projects.
  • Record of establishing the use of AI to automate manual workflows, summarizing complex reports and building self-service analytical tools supporting enhanced improvements to Monthly Business Review (MBR) and critical reporting tools.
  • Maintaining robust system of internal controls to satisfy Financial Reporting Compliance (FRS) audits and FCA regulations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Company guidelines are properly implemented, and all requirements are fulfilled in a timely manner.

 

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • 5+ years of experience working in planning / business analysis or transformation / finance / accounting preferably in both an operational and corporate environment.
  • Experience supporting business, technology, data, or AI transformation programs with process optimization and organizational change.
  • Analytical and adaptable mindset with an understanding of financial governance, operational risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced open-plan office environment.
  • Work with business stakeholders across Trading, Commercial, Operations, Business Process and Technology teams to identify, analyze and define automation and AI-enabled opportunities with workflow use-cases that improve productivity, decision-making and operational efficiency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related discipline and member of one of the professional accounting bodies.
  • Knowledge and applicability of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and familiarity with international regulations and laws on accounting and taxation
  • Previous working experience of SAP considered an asset and intermediate / advanced Excel skills required.

 

Desirable

  • Experience from within the commodity trading or financial services industry
  • Knowledge of financial derivatives markets, hedging mechanisms, market risk management

  • Interacts with all levels of the business unit, local finance organizations and corporate departments.
  • Interacts with members of the business unit in the region, local finance/treasury organizations and corporate departments.
