Trade Services Officer – Guarantees
Our client, a renowned international investment bank, is currently recruiting for a Specialist Bank Guarantee – Trade Services Officer. This position is based within the bank’s dynamic Trade Services department in the London west end Branch and will report directly to the Deputy Head of Trade Services.
The primary objective of this role is to manage all facets of the guarantees process, which encompasses the opening, amendment, and administration of guarantees throughout the bank’s various branches. The role is responsible for ensuring these activities are conducted in strict accordance with established Service Level Agreements. By adhering to these standards, the role supports the consistent delivery of high-quality customer service and upholds the bank’s commitment to meeting customer expectations across all locations.
Principle Accountabilities and Duties:
- Deputise for the Senior Trade Services Officer – Guarantees when required.
- Ensure that instructions from customers/branches of the Bank Group and other banks regarding all aspects of guarantees are implemented within agreed turnaround times.
- Ensure that copies of Guarantees issued are sent to customers/ branches and other banks and relative charges are collected/claimed promptly.
- Approve release of transactions digitally and sign hard copies where necessary at the request of the Senior Trade Services Officer.
- Prioritise work to meet the urgency of customers’ requests as directed by the Senior Trade Services Officer.
- Action all queries efficiently or refer to the Senior Trade Services Officer if required.
- Share responsibility for clearing outstanding reconciliation items in respect of Guarantees and any other items relating to Trade Services.
- Ensure prompt month end balancing of guarantees and commission accounts.
- Assist with any other Trade Services related roles as required.
Risk & Regulatory Duties
- Maintain knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements including the Bank’s Risk and Compliance policies and procedures.
- Report policy, procedure and/or regulatory breaches or suspicions.
- Accurately execute all controls to minimise risk of policy, procedure, and/or regulatory breaches.
- Identify any new risks/control gaps within own area and report accordingly.
Financial Crime
- Act as the “First Line of Defence”.
- Responsible for the accurate execution of Financial Crime Prevention controls in accordance with the Bank’s and Departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure Due Diligence/Enhanced Due Diligence is carried out, on all parties to the Trade transactions, maintaining appropriate records
- Be vigilant to unusual or suspicious transactions, reporting any suspicions to the MLRO.
- Ensure adherence to the Bank’s AML, Financial Crime and Anti-Terrorism policies and procedures.
Training & Competence
- Maintain working knowledge of URDG.
- Complete all annual mandatory regulatory training requirements.
Experience Required:
- 5 – 7 years’ experience covering the ‘end to end’ process of Demand Guarantee’s, ideally gained within an Investment Bank.
- Min 5 GCSE’s or equivalent level of education
- Strong IT skills, including: Eximbills experience and Excel, Word, spreadsheets and database applications
CSDG qualification – would be an advantage.
